Terms of Service

Effective Date: April 28, 2026  ·  Last Updated: April 28, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to Atlas. These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("you" or "User") and the Atlas development team ("we," "our," or "us") governing your use of the Atlas mobile application and any related services (collectively, the "Service").

By downloading, installing, or using Atlas, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must discontinue use of the Service immediately.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Atlas. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

2. Description of Service

Atlas is a personal relationship management application that allows you to organize and visualize your social connections through an interactive Star Graph. Core features include:

All contact and relationship data is stored locally on your device. We do not operate a central server that stores your personal contact information.

3. Free Tier Limits

Free accounts are limited to 50 contacts. This limit applies to the total number of person profiles stored in Atlas at any one time.

When you reach the 50-contact limit:

Paid tier details, if and when introduced, will be communicated via in-app notification and an updated version of these Terms at least 14 days before taking effect.

4. User Accounts & Responsibilities

4.1 Account Registration

Atlas uses Google Sign-In (via Firebase Authentication) for account management. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account credentials. We are not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorized access to your account.

4.2 Acceptable Use

You agree to use Atlas only for lawful purposes. You must not:

4.3 Your Data

You retain full ownership of all contact and relationship data you create within Atlas. Because data is stored locally on your device, we do not have access to it and cannot recover it if your device is lost, stolen, or reset without a prior backup.

We strongly recommend using the Google Drive backup feature to protect against data loss.

5. Intellectual Property

Atlas, including its design, graphics, Star Graph visualization, and underlying code, is the intellectual property of the Atlas development team and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Atlas on devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial purposes.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, sublicense, or create derivative works of any part of Atlas without our prior written consent.

6. Third-Party Services

Atlas integrates with the following third-party services. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies:

Service Provider Applicable Terms
Firebase Authentication Google LLC Firebase Terms
Google Drive API Google LLC Google Terms
Google Play Google LLC Play Terms

We are not responsible for the availability, content, or practices of any third-party services. Disruptions to Google services may affect Atlas features that depend on them (e.g., sign-in, Drive backup), but will not affect your locally stored data.

7. Disclaimers

Important: Atlas is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, including:

Atlas is not a professional tool and should not be relied upon for critical business decisions, legal matters, or emergency communications.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall the Atlas development team be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use Atlas.

Our total cumulative liability to you for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $10.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the minimum extent permitted by law.

9. Account Suspension & Termination

9.1 Termination by You

You may stop using Atlas at any time. To permanently delete your account and all associated data, follow the process described in our Privacy Policy, Section 7 (Account Deletion).

9.2 Termination by Us

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Atlas at our discretion, with or without notice, if:

In cases of suspected Terms violation, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you by email before or promptly after suspension, unless disclosure is prohibited by law or would compromise a security investigation.

9.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

9.4 Service Discontinuation

If we decide to discontinue Atlas entirely, we will provide at least 90 days' advance notice via in-app notification and, if possible, by email. During this period, all export features will remain fully functional so you can retrieve your data.

10. Updates to the Service

We may update, modify, or discontinue features of Atlas at any time. Non-breaking changes (bug fixes, UI improvements) may be released without advance notice. Changes that remove core functionality will be announced at least 14 days in advance via in-app notification.

App updates distributed via Google Play may be installed automatically on your device depending on your Play Store settings. We recommend keeping Atlas up to date to receive security patches and improvements.

11. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Taiwan (Republic of China), without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Atlas shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Taipei, Taiwan.

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may also have the right to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will:

Your continued use of Atlas after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree with the new Terms, you must stop using Atlas and delete your account.
